What to do these School Holidays in Takapuna!


There are LOTS of things to do in Takapuna these school holidays - plenty to keep the little ones entertained!

Visit our beautiful Takapuna Beach for a quick swim while the weather is still nice, or grab a coffee and some lunch and make it a picnic with some sandcastle building, or keep them active at the playground!

We have many great places to eat out if you're heading out for some shopping - why not treat the kids with an ice cream from Movenpick - or Ben & Jerry's - or KiwiYo!

Visit Shore City for some Easter fun:

Week One: Monday 15th - Thursday 18th April (From 10am- 2pm)

Join us for some egg-cellent Easter themed crafts on Monday & Wednesday and easter themed cookie decorating on Tuesday & Thursday.

*The centre will be closed on Good Friday 19th April.

Week Two: Tuesday 23rd & Wednesday 24th April (From 10am- 2pm)

Join us in our game zone for fun for the whole family including face painters, balloon twisters and a range of giant games.


Visit the Bruce Mason Centre with APO 4 Kids!:

APO 4 Kids is a fantastic way to show the youngest members of your family just how much fun music can be.
Join the APO for pre-concert musical activities and an hour-long interactive concert with the full orchestra. Sing-along, dance-along and conduct-along to some popular orchestral works. And, don’t miss the chance to walk through the orchestra while the musicians are playing, to see the instruments up close.

Satisfy the kid's sweet tooth, and visit The Olde Lolly Shop for a Lollypop making class!

Come to The Old Lolly Shop Takapuna to make your own lollipop! Bookings are essential - please email or phone to make a booking. 

School holiday weekday booking start times are 10am, 10:40am, 11:20am, 12noon and 12:40am. Some sessions will already be full on some days...

Lollipop making sessions take about 30mins to watch the demonstration and then make your own lollipop. You can book just for one or two people, or book a group for a birthday party or group field trip. A fun, cheap activity for all the family - fine for most ages from around 3 years.

Inspire the budding actor/performer/director in your children with Tim Bray Production's Break a Leg! workshop:

Half-day and Full-day Theatre Workshops available: Tutors, cast and crew guide them in a hands-on adventure inside the theatre itself, exploring imagination through drama games, storytelling and craft activity and revealing the secret work that happens backstage. Both Half and Full-Day options include your child’s ticket to the 10.30am performance of ''The Man Whose Mother was a Pirate" by Margaret Mahy, plus take home momentoes from the show.

This school holiday Lake House Arts have some new fun activities on offer. Join them on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April for a half day adult and child workshop. Have fun experimenting with clay, decorating cupcakes and making festive picture frames. They also have four-day courses for children 7+. Mythical Creatures and Fantastic Beasts is taught by Chocolate Lantern Theatre Company. These classes are an engaging mix of hands-on art activities, storytelling, as well as learning a little about literature. There are also a number of full-day courses including craft activities for the little one through to Virtual Reality workshops for those interested in the technological side of art.
