Getting to Takapuna
Takapuna Beach is easy to get to and is located only 9km from Auckland City and 28km from the airport.
Takapuna is a 10-15 minute drive north over the Auckland Harbour Bridge and a 30 minute drive from the airport, depending on traffic. From central Takapuna, visitors can reach the northern or southern motorway in 5-10 minutes.

You can also reach Takapuna Beach using the bus or the ferry.
There are numerous bus stops in Takapuna and most buses coming from and going to the city, pass through Takapuna. The Smales Farm Busway Station is less than ten minutes walk away from Takapuna Beach.
Taking the bus from the city centre to Takapuna will take around 20-30 minutes, while the ferry ride from the city to Devonport will take about 30 minutes after which you can take Bus 813 which runs from Devonport Wharf to Takapuna. Another option is to take the Bayswater Ferry and alight at the ferry terminal at Bayswater Marina and take Bus 803 or 804 to get to Takapuna.
