Get ready for a wickedly fun night at the theatre! The hilariously spooky musical comedy The Addams Family creeps into the Bruce Mason Centre this July for a strictly limited season, bringing everyone’s favourite kooky clan to gloriously ghoulish life on stage. Since its Broadway debut, The Addams Family has delighted audiences of all ages with its macabre humour, big-hearted story, and spectacular production numbers. This musical is packed with showstopping songs that you’ll be humming long after the final bow. Based on Charles Addams’ iconic cartoons, this musical follows Wednesday Addams as she falls in love with Lucas Beineke, a smart, “normal” boy from a respectable family, and invites his parents to dinner at the Addams mansion. In one unforgettable night of secrets, confessions, and chaos, the Addams and Beineke families must confront love, honesty, and change, with hilarious results. From Morticia and Gomez to Uncle Fester, Pugsley, Grandma, Lurch, and a host of ghostly Ancestors, the stage bursts with quirky characters, darkly funny jokes, and thrilling dance numbers that make this a must-see family outing. Beneath the cobwebs and kookiness lies a surprisingly heartfelt tale about accepting differences, celebrating individuality, and the unshakeable bonds of family. Don’t miss this laugh-out-loud, spine-tingling production showcasing the exceptional talents of Auckland Performing Arts Academy’s students on the Bruce Mason Centre stage! Gather your family and friends, snap up your seats, and experience a gloriously gothic night of live theatre that will leave you screaming… with laughter!

Nau mai, haere mai, whakatau mai rā, you are warmly invited to gather with our community beneath the Matariki stars, and share in an evening of waiata, warmth, and connection. Together, we’ll raise our voices in waiata that honour this special time of year: remembering those who have passed, celebrating the present, and looking ahead with hope for the year to come. With gentle live music, soft starlit ambience, and a cosy outdoor hōtoke setting, this is a space to slow down, reflect, and connect. All are welcome, kāore he wheako e hiahiatia ana, just bring your voice and your whānau. We will provide waiata/songbooks with the words, and our MC Hōrano Henare will teach you about the waiata. Throughout the evening, you’ll be treated to light, heartfelt kōrero, shared laughter, and moments of stillness. After the singing, stay for a kai and moment to connect with your community. The theme for Matariki 2026 is “Matariki Herenga Waka – For Everyone”. The theme focuses on inclusion, unity, and bringing people together to celebrate, reflecting Tāmaki Makaurau’s role as a meeting place, or “mooring,” for waka and people.
