TUESDAY 7TH JULY, 10AM - 11AM | WAIATA FOR UKULELES Learn to play the ukulele and learn some simple waiata for Matariki! Suitable for older children. Limited spaces available – bring your own ukulele to avoid missing out! THURSDAY 9TH JULY, 10AM - 11AM | MATARIKI WALL HANGING Create a wall hanging in honour of the whetū (stars) of Matariki SATURDAY 11TH JULY, 10AM - 11AM | MAKING MEMORIES CLAY ART Work with local artist Debbie Barber to make a clay charm to take home with you. Bruce Mason Centre: Morning Melodies - Kumeu Vintage Brass

This Morning Melodies favourite returns for 2026 with a concert of toe-tapping, popular music by an eclectic band of masters of brass instruments with an average playing experience of forty-four years. Formed in 1948, Kumeu Vintage Brass comprises 40+ of some of New Zealand’s finest players who have played for many brass bands in New Zealand and overseas. Kumeu Vintage Brass believe that like a vintage wine, they improve with age. Their melodious tones have attracted the attention of Auckland and National brass critics. This is not a show you should miss! This performance is part of the Auckland Live Morning Melodies 2026 season. In its 25th year, this much-loved monthly concert series features a fantastic line-up of brass bands, jazz ensembles, and more. Takapuna Boat Club: Wooing Tree Wine Tasting Evening

Join us at Takapuna Boating Club for a special evening with Steve, owner of the acclaimed Wooing Tree Vineyard from Cromwell, Central Otago. Discover why Central Otago is renowned for producing some of New Zealand’s finest wines as Steve guides guests through a tasting of 6–7 premium wines, including the award-winning Wooing Tree Pinot Noir 2020, crowned Best Pinot Noir in the World at the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Competition. Takapuna Winter Lights 2026

Following a record-breaking 2025 festival that welcomed more than 60,000 visitors across four nights, Takapuna Winter Lights returns from Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August 2026. This free, family-friendly festival transforms central Takapuna into a spectacular winter wonderland of light, creativity and community. Curated by internationally acclaimed light artist Angus Muir, the event blends immersive light art, live entertainment and interactive experiences to create an unforgettable evening for visitors of all ages. Across Hurstmere Green, Central Hurstmere Road, Potters Park and Waiwharariki Anzac Square, discover stunning large-scale light installations, interactive sculptures, live performances and delicious food offerings. Due to the festival's popularity and record attendance in previous years, entry is managed through free allocated sessions across the four nights to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. Free session tickets will be available from 3 July 2026. Plus, all ticket holders who scan their ticket at the Prize Entry Booth during their allocated session will go in the draw to win a $1,000 Takapuna shopping spree.
