We’re running our famous Easter Activity Trail ALL SCHOOL HOLIDAYS LONG! HOW TO PLAY: 1 – register and pick up your map from SHORE CITY (level 2, Customer Service desk, at the top of the escalator) 2 – follow the map around Takapuna and complete the activities at each location to receive a stamp 3 – make your way back to Shore City Customer Service desk to receive your Easter Treat! The activity trail will be running between: 10AM – 3PM, every day of the school holidays (14th – 28th April). You can complete the map at any time over the school holidays (i.e. you can start it one day, and finish it another!) Please be patient with the businesses throughout this time – we are sure they will all be busy with their regular work, so please bear this in mind – they’re all very excited to see you though! This event is 100% FREE to attend, and is paid for by our wonderful local businesses – so please support them while you’re here. There are over 100 places to eat and drink in Takapuna, so support local by grabbing that morning coffee, meet some friends for lunch, and take a stroll through the shops after enjoying the fun throughout the day. So now, get ready to set sail into the high seas of imagination as Margaret Mahy’s delightful tale, The Great Piratical Rumbustification comes to life in a swashbuckling stage performance by Tim Bray Theatre Company. Join our young hero, Oliver Terrapin, as he opens up the doors of his oblivious parents’ home for a party – a party with real pirates! Mayhem ensues in this rollicking, rumbunctious rumpus of an escapade by Tim Bray Theatre Company that promises the most piratical fun you’ve had in years. Cheryll Martin, QSO General Manager, Volunteering Auckland Cheryll Martin, QSO is the General Manager of Volunteering Auckland – an NGO dedicated to leadership, support, and promotion of volunteering. Cheryll is a passionate supporter of volunteering, with the ability to motivate and inspire people to believe in the power of helping others. She is a trainer, presenter and consultant regarding volunteerism, and has facilitated professional development workshops across Aotearoa, and also in Papua New Guinea. Cheryll is a life-time volunteer, currently teaching handcrafts at her local Community House, and volunteering at Waikaraka Park Speedway.

Come join The Barden Party for their finale show of the 2023/24 season, an after-party to acknowledge their achievements this year (Adelaide Fringe Winner: Best Theatre/Physical Theatre: Week 1), connect with the NZ performing arts community and celebrate Shakespeare himself on his birthday! Award-winning theatre company The Barden Party is bringing their usual fun-loving spin to Romeo & Juliet, and filling Shakespeare’s most famous play with their hilarious, heartfelt antics. Reimagined as a modern-bohemian romance set to Kiwi and Australian music you know and love, and that you’ve never heard before… You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll dance the night away. This show is also a fundraiser for their ongoing operational costs and for their ambition to take this show to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2025 and to connect with other directors, producers, actors or sponsors who may be interested in working with The Barden Party in the future. All are welcome. The bar will be open post-show and The Barden Party will be providing a cheeky cake for Shakespeare’s Birthday Party. Post-show, other performers are welcome to hop onstage to perform a monologue or talk about their work in honour of Shakespeare’s Birthday, and we can all celebrate together.

To help commemorate ANZAC Day the three bands within North Shore Brass Academy will perform at St Peters Anglican Church on ANZAC Day. The concert will feature solos, marches and light items as well as reflective and motivating music remembering our ANZAC’s and other service men and women that have served in war and peach keeping missions. Tunes such as The Girl I Left Behind Me, A Bridge Over Troubled Waters and the march Death or Glory will ensure entertainment as well as reflecting and remembering. The three bands are North Shore Youth Brass (2019 Champion Youth Band of NZ) the North Shore Brass Community Band which is an all-comers band plus the newly promoted North Shore Brass Academy Band – 2022 champion D grade band of NZ - who now compete nationally in the C grade. Entry is by donation at the door (cash or eftpos).

We are thrilled to be back in the Coal Bunker for another season of late night comedy staple Late Night Knife Fight. The Knife Fight is a joyful proving ground for improvisers creating new work and ensembles. It’s your chance to see 4 shows in one and catch the next big thing before it’s even off the ground. Each show features 3 dueling acts and one headliner (the winner of the previous show). Knife Fight offers development, coaching, and collaboration for improv performers across companies and styles. It’s a truly unique and powerful place in Tāmaki Makaurau’s theatre landscape. Work presented at LNKF has gone on to full seasons and festivals, including 100 Things (Dunedin Fringe 2024), Post-Apocalyptic Bard (Auckland Improv Fest 2023), RAW! ASMR (Auckland Fringe 2022), Two Dope Teens (winner: Best Improv Nelson Fringe 2018), The History Boy (nominated: Outstanding Solo Performer NZ Fringe 2021), and many more!
