Pacific Padel announced the opening of its brand-new club in Takapuna, set to welcome players from December this year.
The new venue will feature three state-of-the-art padel courts, expanding the reach of the world’s fastest-growing sport across Auckland’s North Shore.
What Is Padel?
Padel is a racket sport that blends the best of tennis and squash. Played in doubles on a glass enclosed court, it’s fast-paced, easy to pick up, and highly social. Globally, more than 25 million people now play padel across 90 countries, with the sport spreading rapidly through Europe, the Americas, and now New Zealand.

Why Takapuna?
Located just minutes from the beach, the Takapuna club will host three courts, professional coaching, social leagues, and a vibrant social space. With a focus on inclusivity, the club aims to make padel accessible to everyone — from complete beginners to competitive players, corporate groups to special events.
“These three Takapuna courts will be installed before Christmas. They will be great for the community and add to the vibrancy of the area” says CEO Julian Brown. “Summer in Takapuna is going to get a whole lot more exciting following the completion of the club. Lunch break matches, lively weekend events, and early morning padel meetups will become the norm.”
Community & Club Manager, Adam McDonald has experienced the huge impact padel has had on the community and himself in such a short time:
“Padel is unlike any sport I’ve ever played in how addictive it is and how quickly you get hooked after your first try. It’s growing fast all over the world for a reason. What I love is how simple it is to pick up. You can be laughing through rallies within minutes of stepping on court, and compared to tennis or other racket sports it’s much easier to progress to higher levels with just a little practice and coaching.
The best part has been watching a real community take shape. People come down to get active, but they end up making friends too, and you can see the positive impact that has on their wellbeing.
It’s also been brilliant for corporate groups. Padel is easy for beginners, inclusive and just the right mix of fun and competitive. We’ve had teams turn up not knowing what to expect, and within an hour they’re high-fiving each other and already planning their rematch.”
