Lux Vinum – An exploration of wine & light – R18

Does the colour of your tablecloth make your Sauvignon Blanc taste funny? Do your curtains pair well with Pinot Noir?

Lighting and design choices are more than just good taste these days – the finest restaurants now curate the colours, sound and textures you experience while you enjoy your meal – to trick you and to flatter you. How do our senses affect the gastronomic experience? Does light really change how something tastes? Explore your relationship with your senses in this unique wine tasting that investigates just how much light and food can change one wine.

About the Host:

The host, Jake Tipler is a consummate wine lush, experienced wine host, a graduate of viticulture and oenology, and champion of Central Otago wines. Jake has spent most of his career investigating the relationships between our senses and how they affect the wine-tasting experience. As a curator of multi-sensory wine-tasting experiences; from pairing Shiraz with Stainless Steel to Pinot and Porches, Jake loves to take wine out of its comfort zone and challenge wine lovers to find a deeper appreciation for wine through all of our senses.

About the Wine:

Mount Edward are Bio gro certified organic, owning all their fruit across 5 estate vineyards, all in Central Otago, collectively producing wines of provenance and pleasure alike.

Traditional winemaking, a healthy regard to science, all without a rulebook telling them what to do or how to look. The less you do the better the wine is a truism that guides us via minimal intervention such as no fining, filtration, aids or additives.
