North Shore Brass: Stars of Brass

North Shore Brass loves hosting world class musicians and we are delighted to serving serviceman in Kevin Hickman of the NZ Army Band. He will play new repertoire as well as many of the favourites written for Flugel horn. This concert is for the brass band aficionados and general music lovers.

Kevin joined the New Zealand Army Band as a full time musician in 2010 and currently holds the position of Drum Major after a successful career in the printing industry.

As a cornet soloist Kevin has won the New Zealand Junior Champion of Champions, the Australian Junior Cornet Championship, New Zealand Amateur Cornet, and New Zealand Championship Cornet. He has twice been runner up in the Australian Cornet Championship. Kevin has also won the New Zealand Open Flugel. Kevin has won the New Zealand Champion of Champions and been runner up twice. He has also won the Federation of Australasian Brass Bands Aria contest and the New Zealand Invitation Slow Melody contest twice.
