Graeme Lay began writing fiction in the mid-1970s and was mentored by Frank Sargeson.
Graeme has published both fiction and non-fiction. His more than forty books include nine novels for adults, five for young adults, several collections of short stories and travel writing and many works of non-fiction. His short stories have been widely anthologised in New Zealand and overseas.
His best-known work is his best-selling trilogy of novels based on the life of explorer James Cook. His latest novel, Larry & Viv, is based on the Old Vic Theatre Company’s Australasian tour, in 1948.
