Bruce Mason Centre - Matariki for Tamariki
12 July 2019 - 13 July 2019 , .
Following a successful touring season, The New Zealand Dance Compnay (NZDC) is returning to Bruce Mason Centre with the premiere season of Matariki for Tamariki by accomplished New Zealand dancer and choreographer Sean MacDonald. This programme is also proudly a part of Auckland’s Matariki Festival and Auckland Live’s Kids 2019 Kids Season.
A celebration for the whole family, Sean brings to life a world where a band of players, a group of friends, and a whānau travel throughout Aotearoa and its landscape of lush ngahere (forests), mighty maunga (mountains), and majestic moana (oceans), encountering the flora and fauna through seasonal changes. The journey begins and ends through the setting and rising of the Matariki whetū (star) constellation.
Friday, 12 July at noon
Saturday, 13 July at 11am & 3pm
Want to dance alongside the Company? NZDC is inviting aspiring young dancers to join them on a week-long Youth Winter School at BMC from 8 – 13 July to experience a week of exceptional dance training taught by NZDC professional dancers and have the opportunity to perform alongside them in the premiere season of Matariki for Tamariki.
