Takapuna Beach Cup

The Takapuna Beach Cup is New Zealand's premier three-day outrigger canoe paddle festival, which takes place on the spectacular Hauraki Gulf.

Takapuna Beach Cup is hosted at one of Auckland's best beaches.

Racing takes place on the Hauraki Gulf which offers paddlers clean waters, stunning views and a chance to paddle around one of New Zealand's iconic extinct volcanoes, Rangitoto.

On Friday there is an open invitation for all to joins us for the Official Welcoming ceremony before we host a 5km warm up race.

Saturday features the epic 42km Marathon Race with sea changes, set on a course out and around Rangitoto, Motutapu and Rakino Islands.

There is also a grueling 21km Half-Iron Race with no sea changes in which a 6-person crew paddles the full distance out and around Motutapu Island.

Sunday is a colourful day on the water with the traditional 24km Outrigger Relay in which competitors compete in one or two man canoes and swap throughout the race.

There is also a 10km Junior and Novice race on this day with all the courses set close to the beach to allow spectators to follow the progress of the teams.

As you can see our event caters for all types of paddlers, whether you are a serious competitor, a novice or a junior we have a race for you!
