Experience Filipino Culinary Delights at Nanam
Nanam moving to Takapuna definitely set the community’s heart aflutter with excitement and months after, they are still going strong with an ever-growing list of loyal fans that come in three or more times a week to taste their delicious dishes.
Located at 178 Hurstmere Road, Nanam has become a favourite dining spot for locals, foodies, and those watching a show at the Bruce Mason Centre. With a delightfully unique menu inspired by Filipino flavours and culture, it’s no surprise that Nanam was included in Metro’s Top 50 Auckland Restaurants this year.
The story behind Nanam started four years ago. After working multiple years alongside great chefs cooking European and Asian-inspired dishes, Nanam owners and chefs Andrew and Jessabel Granada never shook off the desire to serve their culture and origin on a plate.
They started their journey at night markets, serving their favourite humble “Taco-pao” – delicious steam buns with sticky pulled pork humba, where their success became the go-signal to open their own restaurant. Nanam quickly became a destination to people who are curious about Filipino flavours: a delightful combination of Spanish, Chinese, Mexican, Malay and American influences.
Takapuna is the perfect new home for Nanam, describing Takapuna as a small charming escape near Central Auckland with beautiful views and hidden spots, the Nanam Team spend a lot of their time outdoors, foraging and walking around the area. Their new location was a blank canvas and they’ve worked hard to bring to their vision and passion to life: from their menu to the décor and drinks. Their mission? Showcase Filipino food inspired by New Zealand’s great food philosophy: seasonal, fresh and diverse.
And what a success they’re currently experiencing! With people from all over Auckland coming over to visit as well as great support from locals, their inclusion in Metro’s Top 50 Auckland Restaurants only proved what any foodie worth their salt already knew, Nanam offers one of the best culinary experiences in town.
With winter coming, Nanam is set to excite with their new winter dishes as well as the launch of “My Gold Cup” for the month of June and July. Locals visitors can now enjoy a cup of Fairtrade coffee from Tuesday to Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., either to-go or enjoyed at Nanam, for a gold coin donation with all proceeds donated to support local organic gardens in Auckland.
Nanam truly is a place of warmth, while the amazing food is the undeniable reason to visit, the warm ambience and service which makes you feel at home is the reason to stay and come back for more.
