So you've heard about how beautiful the beach was, how magnetic the nightlife is, and how friendly the locals are but you want to explore the underbelly of the area. Where the locals like to frolick, so to speak.
So straight from the coffers, here are some of our favorite things to do in and around Takapuna Beach from those that know the area inside and out.
1. Jam Cafe
2. Takapuna Beach Cafe
This scenic coastal walk isn't an 'official' walk in the normal sense in that it weaves in between private property and unto the beach reserve but it's a stunning way to explore the area and take in the beautiful backdrop. Allow 40 mins each way.
3. The Department Store
Paddle boarding is huge in America and has been really well received in Takapuna - look out unto the glistened waters and you're likely to spot a paddle boarded making their gentle way across the coastline. StandUp Paddle boards runs lessons and hires out from their trailer, which is located in the carpark affronting the beach (big trailer, you can't miss it).
4. Ark Coffee
The Sunday Markets are an institution of the area - and have been around for as long as any local can remember. Held in the Anzac St carpark every Sunday from 6am, it's here that you'll find fresh produce, irresitible sweets and shopping bargains.
5. Lake Pupuke
This is Auckland's only freshwater lake bodies
